Ionia State Recreation Area is a 4,500-acre park full of hills, creeks, woodlands and a lovely lake. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, camping and picnicking are popular in the warm months while cross country skiing and snowmobiling are popular is cooler months. The park has modern restrooms, a picnic area, a sanitation station, a dog trial area, a boat launch and electrical service.
Four trails on the property offer different levels of difficulty for hikers, skiers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. Together the trails make up about 35 miles.
